True Love, God’s Love for us and His Love flowing through us, is the theme of this month’s Bible Reading Challenge, by Rachel Wojo. Here are my impressions of the Scriptures covered from February 1 – 7.
Mark 12:28-34
The Bible is filled with commandments from God, but two stand out above all others. If we learn how to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, we have fulfilled the two commandments which Jesus identified as the greatest.
Romans 5:1-8
Of all the things God could do to demonstrate His love for us, none other would even come close to what He has already done in sending His Son to die in our place, paying the full penalty of sin for all who believe in Him.
Romans 8:31-39
These have been some of my favorite verses for many years, the sure reminder that NOTHING can separate me from God’s love. God’s love for us is True Love, perfect and complete.
Matthew 22:34-40
If this passage sounds familiar, it’s because we have already read of the same conversation, written by the disciple Mark in his Gospel. But these words also stood out in Matthew’s memory. And they are so important, they should stand out for everyone who reads them.
Psalm 42:8-11
Are you feeling downcast in your soul today? Do your circumstances feel overwhelming? Is the pain you are going through causing you to doubt God’s love. Meditate on the following verse and turn it into your heartfelt prayer.
1 John 4:7-13
God is not stingy in showing His love for us. He proved that by sending His Son into this world broken by sin to make a way for us to live through Him. True love is not that we loved God, but rather that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
1 John 4:14-20
GOD IS LOVE! Some of the simplest and yet most profound words found in the Holy Bible. Love is more than something God does. It is who He is! And when we truly understand this, His love drives out all fear and makes us want to love Him in return.
